The start of September always gives us that lovely back to school feeling. Who can forget that first day with a brand new pencil case, new shoes and new coat – with name tags firmly sewn in by mum, of course!
Even though we’ve moved on (a little), we still love to surround ourselves with some new stationery to start off the new term in style….
2. Who says your pens can’t look pretty? This does… even when writing boring notes! Polka Dot Pen, Poketo
If you can’t get enough of Celia Birtwell’s gorgeous retro prints then keep your eyes peeled for her designs at Uniqlo from 21st
The designer has created a collection of jeggings, t-shirts, dresses, shirts, shorts and tote bags using archived prints that were especially chosen by Uniqlo. The great news is that they will be well within your price range.
The collection is set to be just as popular as Birtwell’s collaborations with Topshop and John Lewis, so have your purses at the ready!
So it seems like summer is now in full swing (well for the time being anyway!) and we’ve got our heads filled with all the pretty dresses we can now wear. Here’s our pick of our favourites…
4. Twit twoo. We love the bird cage print on this taupe dress
from Dorothy Perkins. Perfect for summer days in the sunshine!
Although the weather isn’t very consistent at the moment, it’s good to know that when there is a good day we can slip on our favourite summer dress and head out to soak up some rays. But where can you pick up the best dresses for summer? Here is a run down of our top five:
This is ideal for work wear through out the Summer; the flattering cut doesn’t reveal too much. If your heading out for drinks after work you can simply slip on a pair of heels to change it up for the evening.
We love this dress, it’s extremely versatile, and if your going on holiday it will work as a cover up over your bikini. You could even add a white slip underneath to wear it a different way.
This cute floral maxi has a beautiful floral print and the floaty fabric will help keep you cool through out the day. You can tie in your sandals with the brown belt to really finish off the look.
This maxi mixes two of this seasons top trends; stripes and block colour, which are going to be all the rage through out summer. Bargain!
Fast becoming the place for thrifty fashionistas, with Pearl Lowe designing another collection for them, Peacocks is becoming one of our favourites. This little pink number would be the perfect dress to take to any festivals your attending this summer.
Yesterday after a cheeky lunchtime trip to Topshop on Oxford St, we were pleasantly surprised to spy these yummy homeware items hiding amongst all the the vintage rails. Us Cellardoor girls love to a add a bit of retro glamour to our rooms, and these are all perfect.
Here a few we’ve got our eyes on…
While we’re all still deciding what bikini to get for our summer holiday the fashion world is moving at warp speed and are introducing their Autumn/Winter lookbooks. The industry has always favoured Autumn over all other seasons, suddenly we can layer up and really orchestrate a look as opposed to just wearing whatever will stop us from melting on the tube…
The high street brands have been sitting up and taking notes from the high-end catwalks and have really gone to town for the upcoming season, our favourite picks so far have come from top-dogs H&M and Topshop.
Taking inspiration from Britain’s ‘outdoorsy’ heritage we see a lot of heavy materials like tweed and leather being turned into fantastically contemporary pieces. Sheepskin and shearing is going to be HUGE this season, and Topshop have incorporated this brilliantly in the form of an oversized sheepskin cape, (sure to be a bestseller). Leather, faux fur and tailoring are also big themes, with every look accessorised with hunting hats and dark-berry stained lips. Tough embellishment on-top of floaty tea dresses gives us that Topshop edge we crave, while sophisticated blouses and fedora hats brings in some grown-up glamour.
A certain masculinity theme has taken over the H&M collection, with tailored suits, bowler hats and high-waisted wide-legged trousers stealing the show. A playful use of volume is also a major story, with oversized coats and capes being paired up with skinny grey leggings. Paisley print takes over billowing jumpsuits and scarf’s while corduroy shorts ride high on the waist. Leather teamed with sheer black pieces incorporate the glam-goth theme nicely and all with H&M’s usual inspirational quirkiness.
Excitement is certainly in the air for fashion lovers everywhere as we all embrace our slightly darker selves for a winter full of animalistic desires….(we can feel it kicking in already with all these beautiful looks!). We never thought we’d say this but…roll on Autumn!
