Under the Sea

Every season there’s always anticipation to see what the the bods at Mulberry come up with for their new season campaign, and S/S was no exception. We were definitely excited to see the images of their beautiful ‘Under the Sea’ theme popping up all over the internet.
Shot by the infamous Tim Walker, the campaign has his signature whimsical-feel stamped all over it and the gorgeous Megan Collison stars as the Mulberry mermaid who can be seen perching on shimmering coloured coral with the brand’s iconic handbags.
We’ve fallen head over heels for the yummy pastel shades and can’t wait to get our hands on some of the pieces…. in our dreams!

Farm Girls

If there are two things we love at Cellardoor, it’s dresses and cute animals – when the two collide it’s almost a little bit too exciting. So you can imagine how we felt when we stumbled across Elkin’s spring/summer 2012 look book…
The collection features dresses of all shapes and sizes – gingham, floral, a-line, maxi – all with a fun and girly feel. And as if the farm animals weren’t enough to make you say aww, for every item they sell they donate one book to H.O.P.E – a non-profit organisation bringing art to those in need. Cute AND charitable!

Borne to do it

Ruffles, florals and pastels galore, borne by Elise Berger‘s SS ’12 collection encapsulates the vision of a young free-spirit looking for adventure.
Launched in early 2010, borne by Elise Berger combines luxurious materials and feminine touches with classic menswear shapes. Caught in a world of dreams as a child, Christine Elise Kolnberger, the brains behind the brand, spent her afternoons at her Grandfather’s tailor workshop lost amongst fabrics, buttons and a desire for craft.
The third collection to come from borne by Elise Berger, dreamily entitled ‘In every beginning dwells a special magic…’ after the Herman Hesse poem, is now being sold online. We are lusting after the Hermine dress in the fresh, dewy digital floral print and the frilled blouses in soft sorbet chiffons that remind us of being small again. With no cares in the world, exploring the fields and the woods in the prickling summer heat caught up in a starry-eyed whirlwind of our own imagination.
We just adore the balance between the structure and sophistication of the trousers and blouses against the youthful, romantic wistfulness, of this collection. The versatility makes the pieces wardrobe staples, suitable for both a smarter occasion and a more playful, relaxed atmosphere amongst friends.

From Russia with Love

We’re huge fans of Ulyana Sergeenko here at Cellardoor (you may recognise her debut collection that we featured in our last issue) so we were pretty excited to see what the Russian designer had come up with next. And we were not disappointed! The collection again mixes that old Hollywood glamour with eastern-european chic that Sergeenko does so well.

Chunky Monkey

So following on from our ice cream filled post yesterday and whilst basking in the glorious sunshine this afternoon (which is set to stay all weekend yay!) we got thinking. Us Cellardoor girls like nothing better than to cool off with something yummy (preferably in a bikini by the pool!) so we’ve come up some delicious treats that will not only taste great and cool you down, but are good for you too!

You will need: 3 or 4 bananas and some lolly sticks
Firstly cut the bananas into bite size chunks and push the lolly sticks into them. Then place them in the freezer with a freezer proof dish over them for a couple of hours or until frozen.
Then serve! If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, why not try adding your own toppings by dipping your bananas into some melted chocolate or syrup (be quick – it sets quite fast!) and then into dry ingredients of your choice. We like hundreds and thousands!
Perfect for all those wonderful long summer days we’re looking forward to!

We Scream For Ice Cream

Well hello June, where did you spring from! We can’t believe you’re here already, but not to fear as that can only mean one thing – Summer is most definitely on it’s way! And what better way to celebrate the start of the season than National Ice Cream week.

Now the Cellardoor girls are quite partial to a cone or two (preferably with a flake) but it got us thinking of our favourite childhood ice creams. We remember the delight of unwrapping a Fab and even racing through the rainbow colours of the Fruit Pastille lolly. What was your favourite?

Summer Salad

It appears that Spring has officially sprung and the much longed for warmer weather has arrived.  And how very considerate of Mother Nature to coordinate it with the Easter holidays and bank holiday – finally!
So in true Brit style, it’s time for Pimms, sunburn and picnics! But want a change from the usual egg and cress (You do really have to stop that, it’s not the weather for that kind of behaviour) or pasta salad?
Try this simple Greek Salad recipe:
4 Tomatoes
1 Cucumber
300g Feta cheese
Large bunch of mint
25-30 black olives
1 red onion
Drizzle of olive oil
Chop everything roughly, apart from the red onion which you should finely dice.
Don’t worry about de-stoning the black olives if they haven’t been done already, although do mention it to your guests!
Take to the nearest park/garden/open space
Serve with crust bread, rosé wine and factor 40 sun cream.

Weekend Inspiration

Denim is an essential material in everyone’s wardrobe, one we wear practically every day. Come summer or winter, denim shorts are a staple. Perfect for a casual outfit or for dressing down an overly smart look, denim shorts evoke a feeling of individuality and freedom (even if you and basically every other girl in town are wearing them). They say bohemian free spirit, giving off a Sienna-ish vibe that’s totally Shangri-La or 60’s hippy commune.

So whether you prefer a classic look or one with a punk/hippy/indie edge, denim shorts give you the ability to be yourself, whatever you pair with them. So wear them your way, and let your personality shine through.

Hello Sunshine

Now that the sunshine has made a long-awaited appearance, we’re glad to finally be able to wear our spring/summer buys and we can now justify buying even more.

So we were pretty happy when Primark released these pictures of the new summer items available from May. With these cute dresses and skirts, not only will we look fab this summer but we’ll actually be able to afford a holiday too!
